I was content for a long time - those big double baskets with coffee powder spilling out in wanton excess - crema filled shot glasses spilling gleefully late into the night - I strayed though - can I ever return to my paradise now lost?
It started inocently enough - I was not really even looking. I keep my backflush disc for cleaning my espresso machine in a cup on a shelf. I reached in with out paying attention and took out what I thought was the blank, holeless backfush disc.

I am putting the finishing touches on the second part of my Bonavita brewer vs. the Technivorm blog so think of this one as the half time show or intermission. I seem to be on a Melitta related theme lately so what better to post about than a blast from the past called the Melitta Clarity. This model is still available in other places sold under the brand name called King of Coffee Inventum HK100W.

Sometime last week I read a fun little satirical blog post written by a self-confessed wine snob and addressed to the growing population of self-confessed coffee snobs. The tongue-in-cheek post lamented the fact that the world of coffee was in the process of stealing the unique culture and vocabulary of the wine enthusiasts, with talk of nuanced flavors and varietals, coffee cupping parties and the rest. Why, coffee snobs have even, he lamented, adopted the air of superiority that marks the most astute and learned wine tasters. I found it pretty amusing.
